Together with the Poltimore Tiara and H.M. Queen Mary's diamond rivière, these earrings were often worn by H.R.H. The Princess Margaret on her most important official and formal occasions. The Princess wore them in public for the first time on 1st March 1960, when, newly engaged, she and Mr. Antony Armstrong-Jones accompanied H.M. Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother to a gala ballet performance at the Royal Opera House in London.
