Lot Essay

This well-preserved landscape is a characteristic example of the work of Abraham Govaerts, celebrated for his atmospheric and meticulously detailed forest scenes. The staffage is likely by the Antwerp painter Hans Jordaens III (c. 1595-1643), with whom Govaerts frequently collaborated.
