Details
A tailored jacket
of orange herringbone tweed, with slit pockets at the waist, with double lapels, (buttons defective), late 1930s, lined in orange grosgrain, unlabelled, possibly Schiaparelli or Balenciaga

Lot Essay

The Duchesse de Tallyrand was dressed by both Balenciaga and Schiaparelli. The intricate cut and bias cutting of the jacket suggest Balenciaga, whilst the colour and eccentric collar detail suggest Schiaparelli.
