Audemars Piguet’s Royal Oak is a phenomenon and has become one of the most iconic and successful wristwatch models of all time, although, it did not begin this way. The watch was the first stainless steel timepiece marketed as a luxury timepiece which was a completely alien concept when it was introduced in 1972. Through decades of marketing, investment, and belief in the product that was designed by none other than Gerald Genta, the man behind many of the most enduring wristwatch designs of the last 50 years, the timepiece would later transform into an icon. The Royal Oak features octagonal bezel "screws" that were inspired by antique diving helmets.
The present lot, reference 15450ST is a modern iteration with a well-proportioned 37 mm. case crafted from stainless steel. It features a silvered Grande Tapisserie dial and is delivered in "unworn" condition with its factory stickers and full accessories, making it an excellent timepiece for everyday wear.
