LONDON, CIRCA 1760, IN THE MANNER OF JAMES COX
Rectangular set with panels of banded grey-blue agate in gold mounts cast with scrolls, rocaille, flowers and putti, on four shell feet, the hinged cover with scrolled handle and push-button thumbpiece, opening to reveal a mirror, central compartment with agate cover lined in blue velvet, two blue glass bottles painted with gilt trellis and flowerheads and with fluted gold covers, and a removable gilt-metal box with sliding agate cover and lower secret compartment, both lined in blue velvet and containing a steel folding knife with gold handle cast with scrolls and flower heads, apparently unmarked
