Kändler’s work reports for October 1771 records: Eine grosse Terrine in gestalt eines Hahns gantz neu modelliret, gedachter Hahn ist sietzend vorgestellet, und allenthalben seine Positur sehr natürlich und mitten durch den Corpus gehet die Öffnung und abtheilung des Deckels. Und ist als der Compagnion Zu der schon Vorhanden gewesenen Terrinen Henne verlanget worden [A large tureen in the shape of a rooster, newly modeled, depicted in a seated position, and its posture is very natural throughout. The opening and division of the lid runs through the center of the body. It was requested as a companion to the existing hen tureen].
