Lot Essay

This drawing reproduces, with minor variations, a portrait by Jacopo Bellini in the Louvre, Paris (RF 1490,23; see B. Degenhart and A. Schmitt, Jacopo Bellini. The Louvre Album of Drawings, New York, 1984, p. 23). Bellini’s drawing is executed in silverpoint on vellum and is part of his famous album of drawings. The identity of the sitter is not known.
