A sewing casket bound in red morocco, containing a miniature of the giver in a central pocket, with many tools (some defective) and blue and white porcelain covers to corners (defective); and a poem written on a silk sash, from Ernst Wilhemli (1772-1838) to his fiancé, Charlotte Crusius (1782-1810).

Sold with this lot is a miniature of Charlotte Wilhelmi and two minature portraits of her parents mounted as a broach, set with rose diamonds, and a letter giving details of provenance in a 19th century hand.
The portrait of Ernst Wilhelmi is by B Nathan, a miniature painter known in Leipzig around 1800. Charlotte Wilhelmi's father is said to have been physician to Tsar Alexander I
