Corot, the young artist, followed his teachers' advice and left for Italy to perfect his training from September 1825 to autumn 1828. From Rome and its surrounding countryside to Naples, he drew inspiration from the sun-drenched landscapes that would leave a lasting impression on him throughout his career. Many of his drawings and paintings are thus 'Memories from Italy'. This one can be dated to around 1860-1870. The attribution was confirmed by Martin Dieterle and Claire Lebeau in 2002. A letter of expertise dated 4 November 2002 will be provided to the purchaser.

Le jeune ariste Corot suit les conseils de ses professeurs et part en Italie pour parfaire sa formation de septembre 1825 à l'automne 1828. De Rome et sa campagne environnante à Naples, il se nourrit des paysages ensoleillés qui le marqueront profondément tout au long de sa carrière. Beaucoup de ses dessins et tableaux sont ainsi des 'souvenirs d'Italie'. Celui-ci est datable vers 1860-1870.
L'attribution a été confirmée par Martin Dieterle et Claire Lebeau en 2002. Une lettre d'expertise datant du 4 novembre 2002 sera remise à l'acquéreur.
