Entitled, inscribed and signed, with one seal of the artist
Dated eleventh month, twenty-eighth year (of the Republic, 1939)
Dedicated to Hongjun (Mr Ho Hong Kwan)
Further inscribed and signed by Huang Zaiyun (20th century), with one seal
Dated autumn, gengchen year (1940)
NOTE:
The recipient “Hongjun” refers to Mr. Ho Hong Kwan (?-1955), a Singaporean businessman who was the owner of Sun Wah Furniture in his early years. When Xu Beihong visited Singapore back then, he received a warm reception from Ho, and thus was presented with this painting. It has been preserved by the family to this day, bearing witness to their friendship and interactions.
