The present ‘Boodles’ Limited Edition reference 5230G-012 is among the scarcest of all Patek Philippe World Time references. Only 50 pieces were created in 2018 to celebrate the 220th anniversary of the highly prestigious British jewellers and Patek Philippe retailer Boodles, ‘Jewellers of Exception’ which was founded in Liverpool in 1798 and has since been run by six generations of the same family. For this milestone anniversary, Patek Philippe created this very special edition of the reference 5230G World Time watch. Most strikingly, the city of ‘Liverpool’ appears in pink replacing ‘London’ as the home city of the 24 world cities. The centre of the dial is decorated guilloché ebony black especially for this edition and the back of the timepiece is engraved around the edge of the sapphire crystal display back with the dates of Boodles anniversary 1798-2018.
This watch remains factory double-sealed. Enthusiasts and discerning collectors will appreciate the incredible exclusivity of this double-sealed Boodles Limited Edition 5230G-012 in the certain knowledge that no other person outside Patek Philippe has ever handled or worn this watch.
Ref. 5230
A descendant of the legendary Patek Philippe World Time watches of the 1930s, now ultra-desirable to collectors, reference 5230 was introduced in 2016. The dial centre is adorned with a circular hand-guilloched motif. The ultra-thin self-winding movement with its two city and 24-hour rotating disks serves to keep simultaneous and permanent track of the time in all 24 time zones. Thanks to an ingenious mechanism patented in 1999, the user can simultaneously correct all the World Time displays in one-hour increments by simply pressing the pusher at 10 o’clock.
