The Lange 1 Tourbillon was released at the start of the new millennium to honor the 1900 Jahrhunderttourbillon pocket watch. Considered as one of A. Lange & Söhne's most important modern works, there were only 250 pink gold and 150 platinum examples of the model ever made. It was the first wristwatch ever to have a tourbillon and a progressive power reserve indicator, twin mainspring barrels that gave it a three-day power reserve, and the manufacturer's patented oversized date display. The tourbillon's strong visual presence makes the Lange 1 dial architecture even more asymmetrical, which gives the watch a modern yet timeless look.
The present timepiece is consigned by a discerning collector known for assembling rare and highly complicated A. Lange & Söhne wristwatches.
The watch is powered by the manually wound calibre L961.1, composed of 378 individual parts. The tourbillon has 72 carefully made parts, with its finely crafted steel cage held up by two diamond endstones and holding the balance wheel, balance spring, and escapement. This amazing piece of work not only shows the skillfulness the brand is known for but also demonstrates how dedicated Lange is to chronometric accuracy and the best Saxon hand-finishing.
