Created to commemorate the 225th anniversary of Chronometrie Beyer in Zurich (1760-1985), this exceptional limited edition was produced in just 25 examples. Watches numbered 1 to 15 were fitted with a German calendar, as is the present timepiece, while numbers 16 to 25 were produced with an English calendar. The series was delivered to Chronometrie Beyer in May 1985.
The first example, bearing movement number 770’001, is preserved today in the Beyer Clock and Watch Museum in Zurich. The second example, movement number 770’002, was sold on 9 July 1985 to the renowned collector Dr. Eugen Gschwind (1921-1991) and is now part of the collection of the Patek Philippe Museum, where it is displayed among watches owned by important personalities. Notably, watch number 6 was the personal timepiece of Theodor Beyer (1926-2002), representing the sixth generation of the Beyer family.
This highly exclusive edition is further distinguished by its sought-after double signature, with the 'Beyer' name prominently displayed on the upper portion of the dial and the individual number of each watch positioned below the moon phase indication. The solid 18K gold caseback is finely engraved with the inscription 'Fabriquée pour le 225ème anniversaire de Beyer à Zürich 1760-1985' along with the watch’s unique serial number, while Beyer’s inventory number is engraved on the upper left lug.
