Richard Mille enthusiasts and collectors worldwide will immediately recognize the significance of this superb Richard Mille RM 67-02 Wayde van Niekerk. One of the defining characteristics of the present timepiece is its extraordinary lightness. Thanks to the combination of Quartz TPT® and Grade 5 titanium used in the case construction, the watch weighs an astonishing 32 grams including the strap, delivering an almost imperceptible presence on the wrist.
Cutting-edge materials are used in the case's manufacturing, most notably Quartz TPT®, an incredibly light composite created by Richard Mille especially for watchmaking. TPT® (Thin Ply Technology) quartz is remarkably light and strong. The resultant material, which is incredibly resistant to shocks and deformation, is made from hundreds of ultra-thin layers of quartz fibers scattered with NTPT carbon and fused at 120°C. The fully integrated strap is the lightest strap the brand has ever made, and the monobloc case construction reduces unnecessary components while absorbing both internal and external impacts. The watch is also highly resistant to temperature variations and magnetism, making it an ideal companion for elite sports performance.
Richard Mille further solidifies its identity with the RM67-02 series by working with elite athletes at the pinnacle of their respective fields. Among them are Sébastien Ogier, Mutaz Essa Barshim, Alexis Pinturault, and Alexander Zverev.
The calibre CRMA7 conveys a strong sense of dynamism with its bevelled, satin-finished hands and crisp architectural lines. The dial is machined from a titanium sheet that is only four tenths of a millimeter thick, reflecting the geometry of the movement underneath. It is hand-painted in the colors of the partner athlete's national flag after being coated in black DLC.
Wayde van Niekerk
The present RM67-02 was developed with Wayde van Niekerk. He became the first athlete in history to run the 100 meters under 10 seconds, the 200 meters under 20 seconds, and the 400 meters under 44 seconds after his historic performance at the 2016 Summer Olympics, where he won the 400 meters in a world record time of 43.03 seconds. Van Niekerk, who is regarded as one of the greatest 400-meter runners of all time, exemplifies the explosive power, accuracy, and stamina that perfectly capture the essence of the RM67-02.
