Lot Essay

The Patek Philippe reference 5146 was introduced in 2005 as the successor to reference 5035, the manufacture’s first annual calendar wristwatch. Initially offered in yellow and white gold, the model was later expanded to include a platinum version the following year and a pink gold variant in 2008.

At the heart of the timepiece beats the automatic calibre 324 S IRM QA LU. A defining feature of the watch is its annual calendar complication, which requires correction only once per year, at the end of February. By automatically accounting for the varying lengths of months, this mechanism offers both technical ingenuity and everyday practicality, exemplifying Patek Philippe’s approach to useful complications.
