To mark its 150th anniversary, Chopard unveiled one of the most ambitious creations in contemporary high watchmaking: the L.U.C 150 'All In One'. This outstanding watch offers a mechanical interpretation of the celestial rhythms that govern time itself by combining several of the most advanced complications in watchmaking, such as a tourbillon, perpetual calendar, and equation of time. A limited edition of 45 pieces were produced, including 15 in white gold, 15 in white gold set with baguette-cut diamonds, and 15 in pink gold, such as the present timepiece. The model was certified by the COSC as a chronometer and featured the prestigious Poinçon de Genève.
A significant turning point in Chopard's contemporary watchmaking history, the L.U.C 150 'All In One' is an impressive representation of the company's internal capabilities, which have been refined since Chopard Manufacture was established in 1996. At its heart beats the hand-wound calibre L.U.C 4TQE, entirely conceived, developed, and produced by the manufacture. This remarkable movement highlights Chopard's mastery of grand complications and is a pinnacle of technical and artistic achievement.
The L.U.C. 4TQE calibre, which has four barrels, 516 parts and 42 jewels, has a remarkable seven-day power reserve and beats at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour. The Equation of Time, which shows the difference between mean civil time and true solar time, is one of its most technical functions. The length of a solar day fluctuates throughout the year due to the Earth's axial tilt and elliptical orbit. The equation of time mechanically depicts this difference, which ranges from minus 16 minutes and 23 seconds to plus 14 minutes and 22 seconds. This complication poetically captures the irregularity of nature's timekeeping.
Aesthetically, the present timepiece, consigned by the original owner, a collector known for an eye for wristwatches with unusual complications and sophisticated design, reflects the renewed design language introduced for Chopard’s 150th anniversary L.U.C complications. The watch has a modern yet classic appearance thanks to vertical satin-brushed finishes, polished-top lugs, newly shaped hands, elegant typography, and redesigned Roman numerals. A balanced and readable presentation of exceptional complexity is produced by the harmonious arrangement of the numerous indications on the exquisitely guilloché gold dial, with the other complications visible on the case's reverse side. Chopard's horological heritage and unwavering pursuit of excellence are all celebrated in the L.U.C 150 'All In One'.
