Acquise dans les années 1980 comme une œuvre de Dino Martens, cette figurine fantaisiste présente nombre de caractéristiques que l'on associe désormais à Martens. Une étiquette en papier, apposée en dessous, porte l'inscription «DANTE», bien que les premières lettres soient manifestement manquantes. Cette étiquette nous est familière: elle était utilisée par le fondeur Aureliano Toso dans les années 1950. Il se peut qu'à l'origine, elle portait la mention «ANDANTE», donnant ainsi son nom à cet «homme qui marche».
Au sein d'une collection riche en œuvres de Dino Martens et de Fulvio Bianconi, nous avons hésité : la présence de cannes complexes évoque Martens, tandis que le dynamisme de la figure rappelle Bianconi. C'est avec un mélange de joie et d'incertitude que nous vous présentons l'Homme qui marche.
