This depiction of Aesculapius, the Greek god of medicine, is an autograph bozzetto for the figure included in Valerio Castello's fresco on the ceiling of the Salotto della Fama in the Palazzo Reale, Genoa (formerly the Palazzo Balbi Durazzo).
