Descriptif du lot

We are grateful to Prof. Marco Tanzi and Dr Stefania Castellana for endorsing the attribution of the painting to Johannes Hispanus on the basis of photographs. Although previously ascribed to the 'Master of Santa Dorotea' in her 2017 monograph (op. cit.), Dr Castellana now believes that the present work marks a distinct phase in Hispanus's career and she has proposed a dating in the first decade of the sixteenth century.
