Fifth edition of The Lusiads and third edition of the Rimas, combining Camões’s national epic of Portuguese exploration and trade with his more personal poetry, emblematic of European Renaissance lyricism. Portuguez, p. 92; Salva 502 (Lusiads) and 1136 (Rimas: ‘raro, especialmente si tiene las ocho hojas preliminares’).

Early flexible vellum lettered in ink on spine, red edges (text block detached at fore and rear hinge, without 2 fore-edge ties). Provenance: pencil annotation ‘cat. Rosenthal no. 30-166-£75’.
