A MAHOGANY SECRETAIRE BOOKCASE, 18th century and later

The upper part with a pierced fret-carved swan neck pediment with urn finials and dentil cornice and blind-fret-carved frieze with triglyph, fitted with adjustable shelves and enclosed by a pair of glazed astragal panel doors, the lower part with a lozenge decorated top and sides and chequer-inlaid fall enclosing a fitted interior, containing three long drawers below inlaid with chequer and dot-lines, bound with meandering stylised tendrils heightened in ivory between ribbon-tied husk and tapered panel angles, on foliate ogee bracket feet 42in. (107cm.) wide, 87in. (221cm.) high, 21in. (53cm.) deep
