Lot Essay

This unusual ink stone is decorated on each side panel with a man standing alongside a prancing lion carrying a vase on its back. For a similar example decorated with flowers in the Museum für Ostasiatische Kunst, Berlin see M. Medley, Tang Pottery and Porcelain, London, 1981, pl. R.
