Lot Essay

Fender supplied this Signature Jaguar to Johnny Marr in its stock Olympic White finish in early 2013. Following the production of his custom Comet Sparkle Signature Jaguar to coincide with the release of his third solo studio album Call The Comet in 2018 (lot 102), Marr commissioned Michael Eastwood of British guitar builders Brian Eastwood Guitars to refinish this guitar in a custom ‘Reverse Comet Sparkle’ finish in 2020. Marr played the ‘Reverse Comet’ during his set at the Heritage Live festival in the grounds of the Audley End Estate near Saffron Walden, Essex, on 1 August 2024, including for The Smiths’ songs ‘This Charming Man’ and ‘Panic’.
