Gifted by the artist to the present owner at the conclusion of Bhupen Khakhar: Retrospective at The Lowry, Manchester, 2002.
The present owner, then Exhibitions Director at The Lowry, collaborated with Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, Madrid, to bring the exhibition to the United Kingdom and facilitated an artist residency during Khakhar's final stay in England, enabling him to explore connections between the textile traditions of Manchester and Ahmedabad.
The present owner, then Exhibitions Director at The Lowry, collaborated with Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, Madrid, to bring the exhibition to the United Kingdom and facilitated an artist residency during Khakhar's final stay in England, enabling him to explore connections between the textile traditions of Manchester and Ahmedabad.
