The inverted domed wells pierced and cast with panels of rosettes and leafy ornament intersected by flambeau torches above leaf-wrapped pine cone terminals, the circlets cast with palm motifs and applied with masks of Minerva issuing bifurcating scroll branches with eagle head terminals supporting campana-shaped nozzles, the chain suspension with conforming coronas

Lot Essay

The Minerva masks and palm enriched circlets of these chandeliers are strongly related in design to a chandelier illustrated in Vergoldete Bronzen (see H. Ottomeyer and P. Pröschel, Vol. I. Munich, 1986. p.306.).
