Each with guilloche and overlapping coin and foliate decoration, with a cane panel curved back with a foliate cresting and padded arms, a padded bowed seat, on cabriole legs terminating in scroll feet (2)

Lot Essay

A similar chair by Pihouee is illustrated on page 522 in Le Mobilier Francais XIX Siecle, Ledoux-Lebard, 1989. Alexander Pihouee with his son Victor-David is recorded as being active in the second half of the 19th and first part of the 20th centuries and exhibited in many of the major exhibitions of the time.
