Lot Essay

This photograph of Lee Miller modeling, taken by Maurice Tabard in 1934, comes originally from the collection of dress designer Victor Stiebel, active in England in the 1920s and 1930s. Stiebel trained at the House of Reville and opened his own business in London in 1932. His personal collection of photographs, in which the present lot was included, showed models in his designs and many were used as advertisements in Vogue and Haper’s Bazaar.
