Compare to a larger jade axe housed in the Palace Museum, Taipei, dated as Shang dynasty, collection number: gouyu 000703N; and one of nearly identical size from George and Mary Rockwell collection, dated as Erlitou Culture, now preserved in the Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art, Cornell University, object number: 88.002.229.
