Lot Essay

Wang Shenbo (1895–1989), courtesy name Shen, was a native of Wuyuan, Jiangxi. A distinguished architect, Master of Engineering, and chair of the French Department at Sino-French University during the Republican era, he held positions including Director of the Beiping Public Works Bureau, architectural technician at the Palace Museum, and member of the Society for the Study of Chinese Architecture. He contributed greatly to modern architectural education and the conservation of ancient structures in China.
A Mi Chou Gallery label is attached to the back of the original frame.
