Oval, enamelled en plein with on the cover the Forge of Vulcan after John Singleton Copley (1738-1815) circa 1754 and on the underside Venus commanding Vulcan to make arms for Aeneas after Louis de Boullogne (1654-1733) circa 1730, the sides with reserves enamelled with country scenes in the manner of David Teniers, all within chased rococo scrolls and foliate sprays, marked with maker's mark (MP under coronet) between two coats-of-arms beneath coronet in cover and base; also with 20K in cover
