Descrizione dettagliata lotto

Rolex reference 2508 in stainless steel is one of the great vintage classic chronographs of the early wristwatch era and one of the most desirable for collectors. In great overall condition, this stunning first series example made around 1935 features a highly prized multiscale sector dial and is given a further undeniable presence due to the 37mm case with wide flat bezel.

The Rolex Ref. 2508 was introduced in the mid-1930’s and has the distinction of being the first chronograph wristwatch with two registers on the dial and two pushers on the case. First series examples of reference 2508 have a case diameter of 37mm to 37.2mm in stainless steel, featuring a wider flat bezel and oval or olive-style chronograph pushers. Second series watches have a slightly smaller diameter of 35mm and feature rectangular chronograph pushers.

The wonderfully preserved sector dial of the present watch has multiple timing scales; an outer blue telemeter scale, and an inner spiral tachymeter, large hour markers and an additional scale with Arabic five-minute combined with baton fifth-of-a-second divisions.

A wearable and true gem for the collector of vintage Rolex chronographs, this charming reference 2508 impresses on every level.
