Lot Essay

Constructed from high quality, richly-grained huanghuali, the present kang table is robustly proportioned and finely carved on the cusped apron and shaped legs. The strong and free-flowing interlocking floral scroll on the apron is crisp and confidently carved, an elegant match to the delicate leaf-wrapped ball feet. A huanghuali kang table with similarly carved feet and plain, dramatically cusped apron, formerly in the Quincy Chuang collection was sold at Christie’s Hong Kong, 30 May 2022, lot 2828.
