Lot Essay

The Cosmograph Daytona stands as one of the most celebrated and enduring chronograph wristwatch lines ever produced. In addition to being in excellent overall condition, the present timepiece stands out for having a desirable 'inverted 6' dial, a feature that collectors especially value.

Reference 16520
A landmark model in the history of Rolex chronographs, reference 16520 was the first Daytona to be fitted with an automatic movement, based on a Zenith ébauche and extensively modified by Rolex to meet its exacting standards. It marked a substantial improvement over previous manual-winding references when it was introduced with a larger case and a sapphire crystal.

Reference 16520 was a huge hit when it was first released and has since become a collector's favorite due to its unique dial variations, modern proportions, and technological innovation.
