The Morning Post and Daily Advertiser, Friday September 14 1787, London: P. Stuart, 2° (18¼ x 12½in.), 4pp., with MATCH REPORTS FROM HAMBLEDON AND ST. MARY-LE-BONE, the first of 34 lines between the Hambledon Club and All England for 1000 guineas, the other of 46 lines between Sir Horace Mann's and Lord Winchelsea's Players: "This match was a hollow piece of business, when we consider that the players on both sides were allowed to be twenty-two of the best players in England. Lumpy, old as he is, was never greater than in his bowling on Wednesday, and to him may the great majority on the side of Sir Horace be attributed" (worn on folds, duty stamp to lower outside corner of first page).
