Descriptif du lot

The design of this snuff-box relates closely to those of Juste-Aurèle Meissonnier published around 1727-1731. Several surviving gold snuff boxes made comparable designs were also made by the Royal goldsmith Daniel Gouers (d. 1754), (see P. Fuhring, Juste-Aurèle Meissonnier, Turin, 1999, figs. 19-24, pp.188-190.)

For a biography of Noel Hardivilliers see lot 69 and for other boxes by this maker in this collection see lots 69 and 133.
