A pair of Shibayama style silver ovoid vases
with tapering necks, each with four inset gold lacquer panels inlaid in mother-of-pearl, stained ivory, wood and horn with cockerels, egrets and other birds and baskets of flowers among prunus, peonies and chrysanthemums, each with stylised elephant-head and ring handles, on a partly enamelled ground decorated with flowersprays -- 8¾.in (22.2cm) high, signed on gilt tablets, (small areas of inlay missing and replaced).
