A 19th-Century brass Universal equinoctial compass dial,
signed on the edge-ring Charles Nephew & Co. Calcutta, with spring latitude (?) gnomon, folding latitude arc engraved 0°-60°, the compass with engraved paper card, blued needle, the base-plate incorporating level and cross-bubble, with three adjustable screw feet, mounted in a close-fitting mahogany case -- 4½in. (11.5cm.) dia.
