the case with hinged escapement viewing portal, foliate cast handle, surmounting a palmette and frond cast top, glazed oval panels to the sides, gilt egg-and-dart bezel to the silver engine-turned Roman and Arabic dial with blued steel hands, the centre bearing the signature BREGUET beneath the calendar aperture with enamelled calendar ring and adjustment lever by IX, three-position strike selection above XII, the movement with large going barrel, platform lever escapement with blued helical spring to steel three arm balance, rack-and-snail work planted on the backplate with quarter and hour strike on two gongs and alarm on bell, French, mid 19th century -- 10in.
