A Coalport pink ground commemorative plate
made for the visit of Napoleon III and Eugénie to London in 1855, painted to the centre with the monogram VN within British and French flags, within two tone gilt band of leaves and acorns, the border reserved with panels painted with the French eagle and the British lion between named panels, inscribed in gilt to the reverse -- 23.5cm. diam. (slight wear)
