These notes and a collection of letters included in Christie's South Kensington's Pop Sale, 26th May, 1994 and 8th September, 1994, were sent to a fan on Johnny Rotten's return from the group's U.S. tour in 1978. He apparently cut all the letters into two prior to sending them to amuse the recipient who had plenty of time to spare as he was on the dole at the time.
