the earliest example die-stamped with stylised feathers and with tendril handle, apparently with no maker's mark, Birmingham 1806 or 1807, the second example with engraved shovel-shaped bowl and tapering mother-of-pearl handle, Birmingham 1816, the last example single-struck fiddle, thread and shell pattern and with a shell-fluted bowl, the handle engraved with an initial, London 1833.
