A rare fan with Russian gold guardsticks, the leaf signed D.H. Ballue, painted with a grand fancy dress ball, the verso with Pierrot and other figures leaving the ball, with mother of pearl sticks carved, pierced and gilt with a trellis, and painted with seven vignettes of putti, a dragon, doves and shells, the gold guardsticks with maker's mark S.A. for Samuel Arnd, who flourished in St.Petersburg between 1845 and 1890 - 11in.
