Shown with head slightly to sinister and wearing a frock coat with the Order of the Golden Fleece, on integral waisted circular socle, inscribed to the reverse MODELLED FROM SITTINGS TAKEN ON AUG 6 9 11 AND NOV 18 1851. H. WEIGALL 27 SOMERSET ST. PUBLISHED OCTOBER 10 1852 and No.4 Executed by Elkington Mason and Co.

Lot Essay

Henry Weigall, c.1800-1883. Exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1837 ti 1854. This bust of Wellington is his best known work, and casts are in the Birmingham Art Gallery and the United Services Club.
