The Property of a Lady
The following lots were collected by a British Judge of Appeal, during his thirty years service, Alexandria, 1903-1904, and have passed by descent to the present owner.
A fragmentary turquoise glazed composition tile with cartouche, possibly Amun-Ra, with details of hieroglyphs in relief and glazed in white, repaired -- 6¾in. (17.2cm.) high, circa Dynasty XVIII (1550-1307 B.C.); a similar cartouche fragment, brown-grey glazed background -- 3in. (7.1cm.) across; a floral tile with white petals and central applied dot -- 1 5/8in. (4.1cm.) diam., from the Palace of Ramesses III, Quantir; a fragmentary glazed composition tile inlay of a profile head, showing part of the wig, with white fillet around the head -- 3 3/8in. (8.6cm.) across; and a fragmentary glazed composition cartouche inlay, the white glaze inlaid with details in blue glaze -- 2in. (5.1cm.) across, all Dynasty XIX-XX (1307-1070 B.C.) (5)
