Norman: "Briggs's Arithmetica logarithmica was the first to publish logarithmic tables based on the decimal system ... the common logarithmic tables currently in use are derived from those of Briggs. Briggs learned of logarithms from their inventor John Napier, with whom he worked on the developement of logarithms during the two years before Napier's death."
