Provenance
The first work has F. Maseres inscription to title, dated 28 August 1810; a few annotations in Maseres' hand; bookplate and stamps of the Inner Temple Library. Bound in in the second work is a 1½-page autograph letter from James Glenie to Francis Maseres, dated 20th April 1799, regarding a letter containing a demonstration of Sir Isaac Newton's binomae theorem. Glenie asks Maseres if the letter could be included in the fourth volume of Scriptores logarithmici.

Lot Essay

"Of the reprints that Maseres made at his own expense, the most significant is the Scriptores logarithmici (1791-1807), six volumes devoted to the subject of logarithms, including the works of Kepler, Napier, Snellius, and others, interspersed with original tracts on related subjects." (DSB)
