Lot Essay

FINE IMPRESSIONS. The first 6 of these etchings show views of Roman ruins, 5 views of the Colosseum, followed by 14 Italianate, possibly imaginary, landscapes. Küsel (1626-ca. 1683) was a member of the Augsburg family of engravers and goldsmiths and Baur (circa 1600-1640) was a Strassburg miniature painter who lived for many years in Rome and Italy.
