Lot Essay

Despite her French name, this vessel is flying the distinctive ensign used by Danish merchants trading in the mediterranean, the large F6 within the central cross of the flag denoting the King of Denmark, Frederick VI (1808-1839). The fact that the ship is clearly French however suggests that she was simply on charter to rather than owned by her Danish operators.
