Lot Essay

The topsail schooner Cynosure, 155 tons, was built at Salcombe, South Devon, in 1840, and traded out of that area to various destinations, including the Mediterranean ports, for over twenty years. Commanded throughout her life - during which she was re-rigged as a snow - by Captain Michael Yabsley, she eventually dissapears from record in the early 1860's
