the case with rounded shoulders and decorated with premier partie boulle, with glazed sides and front mounted with a cast relief of Phaeton in a chariot, the trellis cast moulded base on paw feet, the foliate cast gilt dial with individual enamel Roman chapter cartouches, intricately pieced blued steel hands, the twin barrel movement with six back-pinned baluster pillars, verge escapement with cycloidal cheeks for the silk-suspended pendulum, the backplate signed Gilles Martinot A Paris with calibrated countwheel above striking on a bell above the movement within a detachable latched canopy surmounted by an urn on foliate hoof feet -- 24in.
